Qualification Overview

This qualification is designed for individuals who maintain and assure the quality of assessment within organisations or assessment centres. Learners develop an understanding of the principles and practices of internally assuring assessment quality and can apply these practices in an internal quality assurance role.

Aims and Objectives

• Enable learners to understand the role and responsibilities of internal quality assurance of assessment processes.
• Equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, carry out, and evaluate internal quality assurance of assessment.
• Prepare learners for progression into leadership roles in quality assurance or external quality assurance functions.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion, learners will be able to:

• Understand the principles, scope, and function of internal quality assurance of assessment.
• Understand how to plan internal quality assurance of assessment.
• Demonstrate competence in carrying out procedures to internally assure the quality of assessment decisions.
• Manage information relevant to internal quality assurance, including confidentiality, data protection, and organisational requirements.

• Guided Learning Hours: 90 hours
• Total Qualification Time: 120 hours

Entry Requirements

• There are no formal entry requirements.
• Centres may set additional criteria, such as prior assessor experience or literacy/numeracy requirements.
• Learners are typically required to be aged 16 or older.

Salary Expectations

Typical salary ranges for roles associated with this qualification:

• Entry-level IQA/assessment monitoring roles: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum
• Experienced or senior IQA/assessment lead roles: £35,000 – £45,000+ per annum
• Self-employed or contract-based IQA professionals may charge £25–£40 per hour or higher, depending on scope and responsibilities
